Yucca Cane

Yucca can be found in many varieties. The plants that are cultivated for their tops are tall, woody plants. The plant itself is an evergreen, reaching heights of around 5 meters. The flowers are star shaped and colorful. They have a very strong fruity scent and attract lots of pollinators. The flowers have a sticky substance on the stamen which help to spread the pollen.

Yucca is a cane-like plant with large leaves, a fibrous, segmented stem and flower clusters that resemble large pineapples. The leaves can reach two feet long and one foot wide. Yucca grows in U.S. Department of Agriculture plant hardiness zones 3 through 11. The plant spreads by both rhizomes, which are horizontal stems that grow underground, and offsets or plant suckers. You can use these methods to propagate yucca plants in your garden.
