Mazus , a genus of plant in family Lamiaceae, was named, first published by Linnaeus in Species Plantarum. With about 400 species of perennial herbaceous plants and woody shrubs. Mazus is a wildflower, it can grow in temperate climates and also with some hot weather. The active ingredients extracted from the whole plant or its different parts have many pharmacological functions.

Mazus is a genus of flowering plants in the family Rhamnaceae. There are about 130 species in the genus. They are evergreen shrubs and small trees growing to 5–10 m tall. The leaves are opposite, simple, 2–6 cm long and 1–3 cm broad, with a serrated margin. The flowers are produced in clusters of 5-20 together, each flower on a 1-2 cm long pedicel.
