Cultivation
-Freesia are easy to cultivate and make excellent cut-flowers.
-They should be planted in well-drained, humus-rich soil that is kept moist, but not waterlogged.
-Freesia have a wide variety of needs, from full sun to partial shade, and will generally do best in a location that gets partial morning sun and afternoon shade.
Care
-Freesias require regular watering and fertilization in order to stay healthy.
-It is important to water the plants deeply and evenly.
-Freesias should be fertilized every two weeks to keep the blooms vibrant and the leaves healthy.
Pruning
-Freesias should be pruned back once the flowering season has ended.
-Cut the stems back to just above the foliage, remove any dead or diseased leaves, and cut all side shoots back to within a couple of inches of the main stem.
Mulching
-Freesias benefit from a light layer of mulch around them.
-Mulch helps to keep the roots cool, aids in moisture retention, prevents weeds from growing, and helps to keep nutrients and minerals in the soil.
